EFFORTS UNDERWAY TO MAKE MADISON COUNTY WET
There is currently an effort underway, initiated by Bob Barton a Kingston resident, to get a vote on the November 2012 ballot concerning making Madison county wet. Madison County has been a dry county since 1946.
According to state law, petition signatures must be collected from 38% of the registered voters in the county on wet/dry issues. This means for Madison County, a total of about 3,200 signatures must be collected and validated before the issue can appear on the November ballot.
It is crucial that Madison County churches, organizations, and individuals who understand the negative impact of alcohol on society work together to fight this initiative every step of the way.
Madison County is located in the Northwest corner of the state, just east of Fayetteville and Springdale. The main town in Madison County is Huntsville.
